Wire

Wire Wrapped Object

Tennis ball wrapped in over 30 16in white pipe cleaners. This work is not attached to wood base.

This one was really hard to accomplish due to the roundness of the object. Color id not play any role in this work nor would I want to make it any larger. Though it looks fuzzy it is very spiky and hurts to play with, showing how well looks can be deceiving.  It was found that even though there is a pain to it students still wanted to explore the fuzzy yet sharp concept.

The first attempt was with copper wire but I found that the wire was not as giving as I would like so I tried a thinner more mailable silver colored wire. It did work better but the wire did not accomplished my overall end goal. The third attempt was made after playing with my daughter during craft time.

With many wire types

Paper clips, Pipe cleaners, copper wire, unknown silver colored wire attached to wood.

The original drawing was that of a Christmas tree with the idea of using varied wires to achieve different line widths and colors. The color of the wires played a massive role in representing what my end goal was.

The starting point was the spiral base done in an silver wire. Then a 30cm length of copper wire was folded in half and twisted with a secondary fold and twist to create the trees trunk. I then tried to use floral wire to create one triangular in the round type tree which was scrapped. Remembering the tennis ball it was decided to use green pipe cleaner with a shine to mock tree lights.
